Trip Protection

Added peace of mind when booking your walk

We have recently added Trip Protection to all Bakers Walking Company tours.

While all of our experiences are already covered by a standard cancellation policy, we know that sometimes things happen at the last minute that are simply out of your control. Illness, family matters, transport issues or sudden changes in plans can all affect your ability to travel, even when you were fully intending to come.

Trip Protection gives guests the option to book with added flexibility and greater peace of mind.

Why we added it

At Bakers Walking Company, we want the booking experience to feel clear, fair and customer focused.

Booking a walk is often more than just reserving a spot. Many guests are planning time away, arranging transport, coordinating with a partner or friend, and looking forward to a memorable few days in a special part of Tasmania. When unexpected problems arise close to the start date, that can be frustrating and disappointing.

We introduced Trip Protection because we wanted to offer a practical option for guests who would prefer an extra layer of flexibility at the time of booking.

How Trip Protection works

For a 5% surcharge on the cost of your booking, Trip Protection can be added during checkout.

The exact terms vary slightly depending on the tour, but the purpose is the same across all experiences. It gives you more flexibility than our standard cancellation policy if something comes up and you need to cancel or reschedule.

This means that at the time of booking, you can choose the option that best suits your needs. Some guests are happy to book under the normal cancellation terms. Others prefer the reassurance of added protection.

An example from our multi day walks

For our multi day walks, Trip Protection is currently worded as follows:

Purchasing trip protection allows you to cancel or reschedule your walk for any reason up to 1 day before prior to start time. You will be reimbursed for the full amount of each ticket, less the cost of trip protection and processing fees. Please message or call us for all cancellations.

For example, if you had booked a multi day walk and something unexpected came up the day before departure, Trip Protection gives you a clearer and more flexible pathway than relying on the standard cancellation terms alone.

That can make a real difference for guests who want the confidence to book now without feeling overly exposed if plans suddenly change.

A simple option for extra reassurance

Trip Protection is not there to replace our normal cancellation policy. It is simply an additional option for guests who want more flexibility.

For some, it will be an easy decision to add it. For others, the standard terms will still suit them perfectly well. The important thing is that the choice is there.

We see it as one more way to make the Bakers Walking Co experience thoughtful, fair and customer centred from the very beginning of the journey.
