Private Off-Site Experiences for Small Leadership Teams

The Problems We Help Solve
When someone is choosing an off site for their team, the decision is rarely simple.
It needs to feel worthwhile for the people attending, appropriate for the business, and worth the time and budget involved. There is usually a lot being weighed up behind the scenes.
These are the things organisers tend to consider most carefully:

The experience needs to feel like a good use of people’s time, with enough substance to justify stepping away from the usual workday.
It needs to work for a mix of personalities and feel comfortable, engaging and appropriate for the team as a whole.
The setting and overall experience should feel polished, credible and aligned with the standard your organisation wants to uphold.
It should feel like a genuine gesture of appreciation, not simply another item placed on the calendar.
You are looking for something more thoughtful and memorable than the standard lunch, venue hire or generic team activity.
Above all, you want confidence that what you have chosen is well judged, well organised and genuinely worth doing.

Experiences Shaped Around Your Team
No two groups are the same and no two offsites should be either. Some groups want a simple day in nature, fresh air and a guided walk. Others want something more layered, better food, a wellness element, or a specialist brought in for a specific purpose. We work with you to figure out what fits, then build around that.

Example Itinerary
This example shows how one Melbourne team chose to structure their time with us, from arrival in Devonport to departure three days later.
Arrive in Devonport
This team flew in from Melbourne, with transport arranged to collect them from the airport and take them to our guesthouse in Devonport. The rest of the day was left free for them to enjoy the town and settle in before the experience began.

Welcome to Bakers Beach and your first evening on the estate.
After breakfast at the guesthouse, the group was collected and driven to the estate for a slow guided 7 kilometre walk across the property. The day finished with time in the sauna and outdoor baths, a chef prepared dinner, and a nighttime wildlife walk.

Tasmania’s wildlife-rich north coast
The second day centred on a longer 14 kilometre guided walk through Narawntapu National Park, with plenty of wildlife along the way. Back at the estate, the group returned to a mobile massage therapist, another private chef dinner, a videographer capturing the day, and a relaxed evening around the campfire.

A quiet morning on the estate
The final morning was kept relaxed, with breakfast at the estate followed by a short walk to make the most of the last few hours on the property. There was then time to freshen up, collect bags, and depart directly for the airport transfer, giving the group a smooth finish before the flight home.

Most of Tasmania’s land was cleared for farming long ago. The 1,137-acre estate Bakers Walking Co. calls home was not. Too coastal, too varied and too wild to be considered useful farmland, it was left largely untouched — and that is what makes it so rare today.
Over three days, guests explore this landscape on a fully guided walking experience based from our off-grid lodge beside Narawntapu National Park on Tasmania’s north-west coast. The estate is threaded with 22 km of private trails maintained exclusively for our guests, moving through coastal country, open woodland, hidden lagoons and bushland that has never been a paddock.
For much of the experience, you are unlikely to encounter anyone else. From arrival to departure, everything is taken care of — accommodation, meals, guiding, transfers from Devonport, and the overall flow of the stay.
Days are designed to feel immersive yet comfortable: real walking, a relaxed pace, time to learn from your guides, and evenings back at the lodge with good food, the sauna, outdoor baths and, on one night, an optional wildlife walk with night-vision equipment.
While each stay follows the general rhythm of the itinerary, it can also be adjusted to suit the needs and interests of the group.
This is not a manufactured retreat. It is a genuine piece of Tasmanian wilderness, carefully shared, with a very comfortable place to return to at the end of each day.

The retreat begins and ends at Annie May Guesthouse, Devonport. This is your base on the night before departure and where transfers depart from on Day 1.
We recommend arriving in Devonport the evening prior to your start date as we depart the following morning at 9am after having breakfast. The Annie May Guesthouse is available for pre-tour accommodation — ask us at the time of booking and we can arrange this for you.
Airport transfers are available from both Devonport Airport and Launceston Airport to Annie May Guesthouse at the start of your trip, and back to either airport at the conclusion. Transfer costs vary depending on airport and group size — contact us when booking to arrange.
If you're arriving via the Spirit of Tasmania ferry, the Devonport terminal is a short distance from Annie May Guesthouse and easily managed by taxi or rideshare.
Fitness level: Moderate. Walks cover varied terrain including coastal tracks, beaches, and woodland. No technical experience is required. Daily distances are manageable for most reasonably active adults.
Group size: Small private groups only of between 4 and 10 people. Maximum group size is kept intentionally low to preserve the experience and the environment.
Season: Runs year-round. Tasmania's weather is changeable in all seasons — layering is recommended regardless of time of year. Full gear guidance is provided in your pre-trip information pack.
Getting here: The retreat departs from Devonport, Tasmania. Guests travelling from interstate typically fly into Launceston or Devonport. If arriving by Spirit of Tasmania ferry, Devonport is your arrival point. The meeting and pickup is the Annie May Guesthouse on Formby road.
Accessibility: The estate's tracks are natural bush terrain and are not suitable for guests with significant mobility limitations. Contact us directly if you have specific requirements and we'll advise honestly on whether the experience is a good fit.
Bookings and cancellations: A deposit is required to secure your place. Full terms are outlined at the time of booking.
Why It Matters for Your Team
When a team is given time together in a setting that feels thoughtful and well judged, the impact often carries beyond the experience itself. It can be seen in stronger connection, better conversations, and a renewed sense of value that flows back into everyday work. Much of what matters most is simply felt afterwards.
People remember how you made them feel.
Teams that feel valued, stay together.
The best people have options. Give them a reason to stay.
Shared experiences build the culture no handbook can create.
Real connection happens away from screens and agendas.
Space to think clearly changes how people lead.
